July 26, 2013Bon Secours consolidating financial services to Greenville.
Bon Secours Health System will consolidate its systemwide financial services from eight offices along the East Coast into two processing centers, one of which will be in Greenville.
The other processing center will be in Richmond, Va. The Central Billing Office in Greenville will occupy roughly 35,700 square feet at 1200 Brookfield Parkway. Employees will move in next month.
The office will have 130 employees, of which up to 80 will be new hires. Roughly 40 employees of Bon Secours St. Francis’ billing office in Greenville will move to the new location as well.
For the jobs that are being moved from other Bon Secours locations to Greenville, employees were offered transfer opportunities, said Michael Haney, the Central Business Office director.
The new operating model will consist of two components: local system-based services and processing centers for shared services.
The local systems will transition their billing, follow-up, credit management and denials management roles to the Greenville processing center; and the insurance verification, preregistration, customer service and cash posting roles to the Richmond processing center.
Functions such as check-in and check-out, on-site customer service, charge entry, scheduling, registration, point-of-service collections and financial counseling will remain in the local systems.
“This will enable us to consolidate financial services, standardize processes with the people working as a team at one location and ultimately save money in the long run,” Haney said.
The consolidation is expected to be fully implemented in 2014.
“Greenville was chosen as one of the locations because St. Francis has a great track record in the community. This is one of the flagship systems within Bon Secours,” Haney said. “This is a long term commitment of greater than 10 years.”
Bon Secours Health System owns, manages, or joint ventures 19 acute-care hospitals, one psychiatric hospital, five nursing care facilities, four assisted-living facilities, and 14 home care and hospice services.
