The renovations to the Hyatt Greenville in downtown will add a new restaurant and four new retail stores to the North Main area, increasing foot traffic and economic activity.
The area in front of the Hyatt will be known as “Noma Square,” a play off of the North Main area. Greenville-based JHM Hotels Inc. bought Hyatt Regency Greenville in 2010 and unveiled renovation plans Wednesday.
“When people are walking up Main Street, we don’t want them to do a U-turn at Bertolo’s Pizza,” said JHM Hotels Executive Vice President D.J. Rama. “We want them to go all the way up and do a loop. Noma Square, known as Hyatt Plaza for nearly 30 years before this, will help drive that. This creates a sense of an anchor.”
