Pete Brett began his career planning, developing, and operating one of South Carolina’s first brewpubs on Main Street in downtown Greenville in 1995. He then followed his career path into larger development projects with many in Greenville including Poinsett Corners, The Lofts at Mills Mill, The Fieldhouse in the West End, the Greenville Drive’s Flour Field and other retail centers throughout the Southeast, and most recently Westone, a historic redevelopment on Stone Avenue in the North Main community Downtown.

As an Advisor with KDS Caine, Pete’s disciplines include retail, office, medical office and mixed use. He previously worked with Centennial American Properties, Windsor Aughtry Company and Blanchard and Calhoun Commercial (now Southeast Development Associates) before joining Caine in 2009.

Always providing the highest level of service to his clients, Pete has developed freestanding retail, neighborhood shopping centers, regional power centers, Class A office buildings, mixed-use projects and historic properties. He has been involved in the entire development process from market analysis, site location, property acquisition and assemblage, pre-development planning and budgeting, public/private partnerships, construction, project management, leasing, sales and disposition.

He received his CCIM designation in 2000 and is also a member of ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) and Urban Land Institute.

Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his wife Michelle and their 6 kids. They are active hikers and Swamp Rabbit Trail regulars, and often enjoy hobbies together as a family including cooking, exploring new restaurants, golf, and fly fishing.

We hadn’t seriously considered purchasing and converting this property until the KDS team provided their thoughtful insight and advice. From initial design to completion, KDS was with us every step of the way helping us to navigate through the complicated process while helping us recognize the opportunities and potential pitfalls of this deal. We are lucky to call KDS true business partners, and more importantly, friends.
